Don't expect too much.

The power handoff went exactly as I predicted. First, Black man, second, Anglo woman. Traditional behavior. This is the way voting rights were first established in America. Black men were given the vote during Reconstruction. Stripped of these rights during Jim Crow. Voting rights for Black women and men achieved in 1964. Anglo women received the right to vote in the 1920s.

We've come a long way, but we continue to have many miles to go before we can consider ourselves a truly democratic nation.

Bring the troops home.
